Phyllis DeRoy

Hello horse friends,

My name is Phyllis Abel-DeRoy; I am truly living my dream. Funny but it took talking to my sister the other day to realize it. She pointed out that I was doing what I had always wanted to do, work with animals, but mostly horses.

I am married to a wonderful man, who wouldn't own an animal if not for me. We have one beautiful daughter, who is now 25, no grandchildren yet, but I am not complaining. We call our place 3D Paint Ranch, I used to raise a few good paints, there are three of us DeRoy's, hence the name. We board horses, teach people to ride, the natural way, and children how to have fun with horses, but be safe, and considerate of them. We have a couple of week long camps every summer, giving children the chance to see what it is like to own a horse, with that, the responsibility's that go along with it, care, safety, fun, fun, trail riding, and conservation, being good to our lands. We have been doing this for five years now, and never have any trouble filling the summer camp spots; I usually have a couple of adults that want to come also. You're never too old, if you don't act like it.

I started my own dog grooming and boarding business, at home, in 1985, with my husbands blessing, and money, lol. We groom cats and dogs plus caring for them when their owners are on vacation. I turned it into a successful business, and now have two groomers working for me, so I can spend most of my time with my new career, becoming horse's best friend, and helping others become their best friend also. But it is truly a labor of love. The thrill of having a horse wants to be with you, go with you, and never leave you, what a feeling. You can't force a horse, or bribe a horse to do this; it will always be his/her choice. To be considered one of the herd is quite a privilege!

I would never have found that feeling if not for Dennis! I got to spend a month with him over 5 years ago. And that was the beginning of my education, I only thought I could ride, I was only sitting on my horses. I am still working on my riding, the better I get, the better my horse feels, the better the ride. OH WHAT A RIDE! I feel younger now then I did 10 years ago. It is invigorating, to say the least. My biggest problem now is not trying to share so much, because most people don't see the difference. Spend some time with Dennis; it won't be long before you are hooked also. Words just can't explain it.

I have been through most all of the other guys programs, truthfully, they all work in their own way. But I believe that the Reis Ranch program is really the best for you and your horse, it is broke down where it is easily followed, it is in proper order, and has you do less and get much further. I love it.

I would also be honored to be able to help anyone else who would like to see the horses' like I do. You can give me a jingle, check out my website, being updated regularly, come by and see me at home or on the rode. I will be traveling with the Reis Ranch crew, at several tour stops. I would love to show off my partner "Boo", or just talk to you. So come by and see me. I look forward to seeing you, in the future or in the pasture.
